Pain Levels

Such an odd question to me, I mean you just had surgery, what are you suppose to say when someone ask “What is your pain level?” Do you say, well gee 0, I mean I was just cut on, but hey no worries all is good, no pain here! I mean lets be real, you have surgery, you hurt, hello! Anyway, I suppose that is why they give you pain medicine but it seems like the question from everyone before they hand over the goods is, “What is your pain level?!” Does it freaking matter, give me the medicine! At any rate, thank goodness my family was good about giving me my meds when I needed them with minimal questions, I just wanted to throw the “pain level” out there because I literally starting hearing that question right away in recovery and it was odd to me, I mean I have had other surgeries in the past I just do not remember being asked that particular question (maybe I was, who knows) but I specifically remember being ask with this surgery and apparently it bothered me because I am obviously harping on it! My pain was really bad in the beginning, it did subside somewhat after a few days, definitely not a walk in the park but tolerable. I had to wait a couple of days to shower from the bandages I had (gross I know) but boy the shower felt great when I finally was able to get in, of course I still had to wrap myself in the ridiculous ace bandage (it could have been worse.) I personally think that some of the pain I experienced was due to stress, I was still waiting to hear from the doctor about the pathology results and I was driving myself crazy, when the phone rang I went into a panic then when it was not the doctor I got stressed, so yes it was a mental ping pong game. On top of everything else two weeks after my surgery we were leaving for Washington to lay my father in law to rest in Arlington Cemetery, we had lost him in June 2017 and he was just being laid to rest. So that was on my stress list also, just making sure I was going to feel like going, being strong enough to go, those sorts of things. Roughly five days after surgery, my phone rang and it was the doctor, she says “Tracie we have the results from pathology”
