A sad cat begging with pleading eyes.

Please!

We had left our last appointment not receiving radiation as Mike was not able to do it. He was super claustrophobic, this was not something that he had experienced before. They gave him a prescription to take about 30 minutes before we got there to help relax him. Now, I know I have already told you guys about the making of the mask, just all the crazy things with that, the radiation machine and the fact that he was struggling. Let me tell you this also, not only did he have to wear the mask and be put through the radiation machine, they had to strap his shoulders down so that he would not move. That was a huge issue, he was masked and not able to move. They cut the eyes and nose from the mouth for him but it was just not enough. We get to the appointment and they try it again, nope not happening. He had taken the medicine and was still so anxious it was not helping at all. He wanted them to not strap his shoulders but they could not do that because of the importance of him not moving while getting the radiation. They did put him on the table and they cut the shoulders of the mask a little to help as much as possible, they still had to “strap” him but this time when he got on the table, they put his music on (rock tunes of course) and they let him get himself out of the shoulder strap, basically so that he knew he could get out of he had to, that seemed to help a little bit. He was able to get his first round of radiation! This was huge!! It was hard, I felt so bad for him but we had one down!!

Love reading your family’s stories, it gives me inspiration and encouragement that I am not alone as I walk thru this often times intimidating journey.
