We Are Off
Mike is doing his radiation, as you all know this was a huge deal to get here. He was still getting use to it but doing better everyday. I was having to drive him to radiation, we were not expecting this, we assumed he would be driving himself but of course with him taking medicine prior to the treatment that was not possible. It was fine, we worked it out so that I could make sure he got there. I was still going and sitting in the back waiting area while he had treatment, it just made things easier for him and I needed him to be comfortable so that he would not be struggling as much during the radiation appointments. He literally worked himself up before each appointment, it was awful. If I am being honest I would have worked myself up also after seeing the way he had to wear the mask, be strapped, just a lot. I do believe if they had shown him in the beginning that he could get out quickly if he needed to some of this could have been avoided but what the heck do i know?! Anyway, we were on the first week, there were not really any changes as far as his skin and appetite at this point. They had said we would probably see these things after the second week, but we were also told that everyone is different, which we were aware of, we just had to see how his body reacted. We were getting ready for the first chemo appointment this week, it would be on Friday. His radiation was everyday, chemo was Fridays. We would leave radiation and go straight to chemo on Fridays, I knew that would be a long day for him, I just did not realize at the time how long..
