Eating

Hey friends! I left off with Mike being admitted to the hospital. He was do darn sick and weak it was necessary. We were at the Oncologist appointment when the decision was made to admit him. We were taken over to where he normally got his chemotherapy so that we could wait for a room. He was exhausted, I was exhausted just from the ER visit and sleeping a couple of hours in the truck. He was sick yet he told the nurses I had not ate and needed to eat so that I could take my medicine, he was more worried about me than himself (he is a good one!) I got some crackers and a drink, he went to sleep. It was taking forever for a room to become available upstairs. It was getting close to time for the chemo center to close, they told us that if they closed we would have to go back to the ER and start the entire process over. My goodness, I was praying we did not have to do that. All the patients were pretty much done, they were starting to leave and I was like, yep we are going to be sent to the ER to start all over!! There was one sweet Nurse and she stayed and kept calling upstairs about the room, bless her! Finally she came and told us there was an available room and she would take us upstairs. So kind of her to stay and make sure that happened so that we did not have to start all over at the ER. Once we were in a room, they let Mike get settled and then starting administering pain medicine and fluids through his port. He was starting to perk up with the fluids, he was so very dehydrated. His paperwork actually stated that he was malnutrition, I believed it, he could not eat, drink or talk and he had lost an entire person in weight, it was so much stress. He actually wanted something to eat and they said he could have whatever he wanted, so we walked to the vending machine and what does he do? Gets a big fat honey bun and all the icing from it, he was almost in tears while eating it, this was literally the first thing he had ate in weeks!
