Feeling Better

Happy New Year! I hope that everyone enjoyed their holidays! We had a great break, just hanging out and recharging, ready for a New year!

I had let you guys know that Mike was ready to eat something in the hospital, and his food of choice was a big honey bun from the vending machine, he devoured the icing off of it. He was feeling better, I mean he was on good IV drugs, getting rest, life was good, I was so glad to see him feeling better. He was still not talking obviously but he had more strength from getting the meds and fluids so his spirits were up for sure. We were told that he would be in the hospital through the weekend, we were thinking we could go home Sunday but the doctor wanted us to stay until at least Monday, although we did not want to be there, he was feeling better and that was a blessing. The downside was he was not able to get radiation while in the hospital so we would have to make those days up in order to get all the necessary doses. On Saturday the doctor insisted that I leave and go home for a bit, I did not want to leave, my fear was that they would not let me back in, with Covid-19 I did not want to take any chances. He kept ensuring me that I would get back in, but I did not believe him, he knew my stress level was high so he actually wrote a note to ensure that I was let back in, that made me feel a little better. He also wanted me to get 2 milkshakes on my way back to the hospital, he wanted Mike to drink at least one whole one before he was allowed to go home. I left to go home and take a “real” shower, I was looking forward to seeing Harrison, we had been talking to him on the phone multiple times a day but I did want to see him. When I was leaving Mike had fallen asleep, I stopped to talk to the nurse and she let me know they would leave him be until I got back, he needed the rest. I got home, saw my boy, did a few things around the house, took a shower and that made me feel a ton better! I headed back to the hospital, I stopped and grabbed the milkshakes. I was let back in with no issues, thank goodness!! I felt like we were finally turning a corner.
