Keep Calm
Hey friends, I hope that everyone enjoyed their Memorial Day weekend. We were at the ball field all weekend, 2 games on Saturday and 3 games on Sunday, we won the championship! It was a great weekend for some baseball.
As mentioned in my previous blog, Harrison was diagnosed with Alopecia, he was going back and forth to the Dermatologist as well as using topical creams at home. The visits with the Dermatologist were brutal because we knew what was coming, more injections. I have never had a shot in my head and cannot imagine the pain, but I have to say again that boy was a champ! There were times he was getting 10-15 in the beginning because of the severity of the hair loss. He was really owning what was happening to him, he never let the Alopecia get him down, he never let it control him and he damn sure never let it win! He did start to wear a hat more often than he normally did, but that was no big deal. We were amazed by him every single day!! We wanted to keep him stress free as we believe that stress was most definitely the trigger. This was easier said than done, I mean the Alopecia had to be bothering him and we were trying to not add to that, he did however have to still follow the rules at home and school, so getting angry with him and punishing him became really hard, in order for him to not get stressed out. Of course it all worked out fine but going through it was so very hard. He has such awesome friends, none of them cared about his hair and reminded him often they were not his friends because of hair, this made my heart so happy!
