Not Ready

I had let you guys know that Mike was struggling in the prior post. I have to be honest I was nowhere near being ready to see what he would be going through. Yes, we had talked to the doctors and nurses, everyone told us what to expect but there was no way they could prepare you for this. It was several weeks in, he could barely put one foot in front of the other, it was so hard and pitiful to witness. On Fridays after chemo going to pick up his medicine for the week had became “our thing” we would spend all day at the hospital and then go to the pharmacy to pick up his weekly medicine, it was our outing, it was literally the only place that we went other than doctor appointments. Mike would insist on going because he wanted to pick up what he needed for the week to cook Harrison for breakfast, he was still doing this all while being hardy able to make it from room to room. He would have to push the cart, he could barely do that, he pretty much did it so that he had something to hold onto so that he did not fall over. His mouth sores were horrible, all down his throat and his skin on his neck from radiation was getting so bad, the cream they gave us helped tremendously but it looked so bad and it was obvious that it was so painful. This too shall pass…
