Week 2

Week 2

We had a whole week under our belt, radiation everyday and chemo on Friday. The weekend following chemo Mike was not feeling well, he was very shaky, we could not figure out what was happening. He was not only given steroids through the port but we were sent home with more steroids to take, nausea medicine, pain medicine, you name it we had it. The first weekend ended up being ok but he definitely felt “off” like I said very shaky, he was super emotional, very not like him. I decided that on Monday morning I would email the Oncology team to inquire about it. He rested the best he could through the weekend, we did not do much as we were not sure what to expect but honestly it was not to bad. Monday morning I did email the Oncology team and she spoke with the doctor, they decided to drop back on the at home steroids, they thought maybe it was just to much for him along with getting steroids before each chemo treatment. So, the next weekend we would cut back on the steroids and play with them to see if we could find the magic solution for him. He did not want to feel this way through his whole treatment and I did not blame him. The second week of radiation was in the books, no big changes as far as skin but his throat was starting to get a little sore, this was expected so we were not worried, we just did not know the extent of the sore throat that we were in for..
