Changes

We had some chemo and radiation in the books. We were trucking right along. At the end of the second week of radiation we noticed some skin changes, red neck, getting red down through the collar bone area, again nothing we were alarmed about as it was expected. It was the throat and mouth soreness that was an issue, Mikes throat was so dry but because his mouth was also very sore. he was having a hard time swallowing. I was making him protein shakes, they had given me a recipe book to use so that he was getting vitamins and nutrients the problem was he was starting to have an issue with swallowing. They gave us some cream for his skin (which honestly worked great) and they prescribed some special mouth wash, it was like a numbing agent so that he could eat and drink. He was drinking the protein shakes the best he could but he was trying to eat solid food as well, I could tell he was most definitely struggling with the food. We were at the end of week 2 and believe me we were counting down until the last day of treatment.
