Port Removed
At this point we were weeks out of treatment and it was time to remove the port. Mike was very excited for this day, the port did not hurt but you knew it was there. He was ready to be over everything cancer, and that included getting this out. He was still going to appointments with the radiation doctor, the Oncologist and everything was checking out well. He was gaining a little weight, not much but he was holding steady and not losing so that was a win. His bloodwork was good, his numbers were very steady which you cannot ask for anything better, the potassium was still a little low but the pill was helping so he was still on that. We made the appointment to have the port removed, we got there and it was actually very smooth. He was checked in and called back pretty quickly. The procedure took literally 10 minutes, he still had to have a driver because he was giving something to make him loopy. When the doctor was done, Mike was ready to go home immediately, he was wide awake and ready to go! We got the hell out of dodge and were home within 2 hours!
