Palliative Care

So the Palliative Care doctor had told us a little more about what this type of care actually was. We were thinking this was it for Mike, that was not the case, they were simply able to administer higher doses of medications to keep Mike comfortable while he finished treatment. I was not thrilled with this, it still scared the absolute daylights out of me! I know Mike was feeling uneasy about it as well, I mean damn he had already been through so much and now this?!

The doctor informed us that she was going to work with our pharmacy to ensure they had the right doses of medicine available for me to pick up for Mike and there would be no problems getting these doses for as long as he needed to be on them through treatment. They told us that it would not take long and we would be on our way home. Three hours later and we were still sitting there, waiting. Apparently she was having a hard time getting a solid answer from the Pharmacy and she was not comfortable letting us leave without confirmation, which I appreciated as I did not want any problems.

The Oncologist came in during all of this and told Mike that he could stay another night. Mike was having no part of that, he had told Harrison earlier in the day that he was coming in and he had every intention of doing just that. The Oncologist actually understood and was very compassionate to him wanting to go home. We were told they were still working with the Pharmacy and hopefully it would not be much longer.
