We Are Home

I get all the medicine, they explained everything to me but I was honestly scared of messing something up because it was so much medicine. I get Mike inside, Harrison was so excited to see his Dad and me, he kept hugging his Dad. My sister in law was there, she was supposed to go home but after seeing Mike, she decided to stay the night with me. She could tell I was worn out and scared out of my mind. Mike was tired, weak, thin and just so frail. I got Mike to the couch, then went back to the truck and brought everything inside. Mike was wanting me to eat, I honestly just did not feel like it, I was exhausted. Mike was sleepy, he had been given his medicine at the hospital and was not due another dose for a few hours. I told him to lay down, and get some rest.

My sister in law and myself sat on the other end of the couch and just stared at him, watching intently, for what? I have no idea but he was not looking good. He had fallen asleep, he was trembling in his sleep, just shaking and twitching. I assumed it was the medicine, nobody had warned me this would happen. I did take some time and write down all the medicine, when he needed it and what dose he got of everything. Our schedule was going to be that of having a newborn because he could not miss a dose of medicine, especially pain medicine, he had to have it at the right time in order to stay in front of the pain.

That night my Sister In Law and myself watched TV, talked, watched Mike, made sure he was breathing. I woke him up every few hours for his medicine. The next morning, Sis In Law went home. Mike woke up for a brief time, ask how I slept, for which I responded really well. What a big, fat liar I was but I did not want him to worry!
